Lampin turned prefold 1 2 3..

Malaysia is well known for it's dozen of lampin/ nappy for their NB.
here are step by step tips from me and inspired by SR of miabambina who insisted that i used my 2 dozens of lampins to good use...and of course some mom out there who needs some guidance on how to fold and sew it...sorry for the delay.... i go bercuti bah....


You can use any brand of lampin available out there but do remember that the thicker your lampin are the longer it takes time to dry. so i choose a bit loose fabric so it will dry faster ...i thought so too...
1. Fold the lampin to half or in a rectangular shape..

2.Take a quarter of the left end or right..(which ever side..i'm a lefty) and bring it to the other quarter centre. assuming that you can visualize into 3 quarters..

3.After folding in the other corner too..the centre of the lampin should be thick as it is use as added absorber...

4. This is how many layers it should have in the centre...6 layers in the centre and 4 layers on each side. Then sew along the borders where the centre meets...or you can sew whichever suits you..

5. ta daaa...sew the completed lampin/ prefold....oh..it took me only 2 hrs to sew 1 1/2 dzn lampin ...with my mom's old singer sewing machine...

this is very useful as an insert for your pocket cd's if you feel the available microfibre inserts too bulky...
pros...saves times foldong into triangles, can be folded 2 ways in length , good as burp clothes, stain easily removed

cons...super lambat kering at the centre, will not last more than 2 hours unless you add a booster and paired with pocket cd's.

I've slowly build up my stash after considering our needs, weather, function, and spending more on CD's...yes..the weather does play an important part as well...after experiencing almost NIL CD during rainy weather, we decided to add more and this also makes washing easier as i do no have to wash the CD's every day, instead laundering can be done after 2 days and it definitely helps in reducing the amount of water usage and detergent too.

Wool cover by loveybums(Feb 08)

Wool cover are easy to maintain , not much laundering needed..just air dry in between changes or overnight..or if it gets really damp....washing with wool wash every 4-6 weeks is all it needs..and lanolizing whenever it leaks...and wash if it gets soiled by runny poop :p..works best for night

It's been a year

1 week young in Drybees...my 1st purchase before i opened my own e-store :)

How proud i am to say that i have clothed diapered Avigail for a year now...make it a year and 2 weeks...
Times fly so fast so they say....and my collection of cd's have come and go...tried and tested a few brands...and now trying for more..it's not really addict..but more of.."will it function well? does it works well with our weather or lifestyles e.g drying , washing, and care for cd's ?"...i know what fits us and what doesn't fit us..so..and introducing new cd's in KK market is not easy unless it's tried and tested...:)

Almost a month old here

And living in an apartment is another matter..as most dwellers do not have direct access to sunlight in the daytime....all this comes into mind when purchasing CD's...we need to consider drying time....and what if it rains for 4 days straight??

Our Side Snap fitteds come in sizes ranging from Newborn to large. Our sizes overlap to cover a broad range of shapes and sizes. They are constructed of 2 layers in the body, either hemp, Organic Cotton (OC) or Bamboo Velour (BV). The snap in soaker consists of 4 layers. Which can be topped with BV or Micro!

Our AIOs (All-in-Ones) are one layer of outer 2mil PUL *waterproof barrier*. One inner layer of hemp or Organic Cotton. With a snap in soaker of 4 layers of hemp or OC topped with either BV or Micro.

Other Information

All our Hemp/Cotton, Organic Cotton and Bamboo Velour is prewashed before sewn. It is prewashed at least 3 times to allow for shrinkage and increase absorbancy.

All snaps are hidden so they will not touch babies skin.

Hemp and Organic Cotton become more absorbant the more they are washed.

Recommended washing instructions

Wash all new diapers before use and make sure to dry AIOs on HOT to seal needle holes in the PUL. We recommend you wash handdyed fitteds by themselves on their first wash just to eliminate any dye bleeding, while there shouldnt be any, you just never know!

After prewashed/used, We wash in cold with a small "squirt" of generic laundry detergent. We use SUN. Then Wash HOT with NO detergent to sanitize, sterilize, kill bacteria, etc. Then we dry all our diapers on HOT until dry. Allow diapers to completely cool before folding, wearing or putting away as pulling on elastic while it is warm/hot will cause the elastic to wear out or break fast!!!

Loveybums wool crepe cover / LIO is suitable for night and day.
Overall bulkiness is a main concern for most moms, it is best to get a trim fitted diaper as not to add bulk.
I've tried several brand of fitted diaper and if parents are worried about bulkiness in the waist,
just add a booster or doubler in the crotch area to add absorbancy. For a heavy wetter, you may want to opt for this method instead of using microfibre insert.
Most M'sian e-store have booster/ doubler available.
Sometimes I just wear this cover for the whole day and still experience no leaks.
Due to it ability to wick moisture out, DD/DS wont feel hot in their diaper.

Sugar Peas 2

Sugar Peas Size 2 ( you can differentiate the sizes by the coloured lining of CD). This is an open view of Sugar Peas 2. Needs to be pre-washed thrice to rid of lint, hand wash method is acceptable.

Sugar Peas 2 has 6 layers all together, you may place a doubler beneath the folded layers to add absorbency.

Notice this layer..it actually transform a size 2 to size 1...

After folding into the right position, a flip of the cloth makes this diaper a size smaller ( Avigail is 10 months and 8.4kg at this time)....

So, instead of having 2 rows of snaps, there is only 1 row left and...

and a flip of the thumb, just fold the 1st row of snaps back.

This is Sugar Peas size 2 and adjustable to make it smaller for younger / smaller/ slimmer babies. Just follow the flip of the thumb. Don't forget your diaper cover too...
